Welcome Newton Villagers,

I am excited to be a candidate for School Committee from Ward 3, a seat elected by all Newton voters. There’s nothing more priceless than an outstanding education for our children. I am passionate and dedicated to ensuring that every child in Newton receives a world-class education.

I have many years of experience volunteering in our school district, most recently participating on the Superintendent Search Committee, as PTO Technology Committee Chair at Cabot, and in 2 terms on the Cabot School Council. My three sons are currently attending Cabot School, with one of them entering Bigelow Middle School in the Fall.

With over 20 years of experience as a program management executive in the high tech industry, I am accustomed to working in a changing environment and driving large-scale initiatives. In my work, I’m known as an independent thinker with a pragmatic approach to solving complex problems, building partnerships, and developing measurable action plans.

As a member of the School Committee I will advocate on behalf of all constituents to facilitate a greater sense of community through meet-and-greets and town meetings. It will be my goal to take a comprehensive approach to the 21st century classroom. I’ll work with the School Department to explore how to further leverage technology at all levels in the school system including classroom instruction, administration, and social media, taking a comprehensive approach to the 21st century classroom. Additionally, I’ll push for advancement of long-range facilities plans and enhanced revenue streams to alleviate budget short falls.

My wish for your children and mine is to be successful in all their endeavors. The ingredients for success include a best-in-class education. If you agree, then please join me and support me on this journey. I’d love to hear your thoughts, concerns, and ideas.

Yours Truly,

Angela Pitter-Wright

P.S. All seats on the School Committee are at-large, so all Newton voters can vote for me!
